How squash scoring works (PARS)
Modern squash uses Point-A-Rally Scoring (PARS): every rally scores a point for whoever wins it, whether they served or not. A game is played to 11 points and you must win by two, with no cap — at 10-10 play continues until someone leads by two. Matches are the best of five games.
Who serves, and choosing a side
The player who wins a rally serves the next one. On winning the serve back, the server chooses which box — forehand or backhand — to serve from, then alternates sides while they keep winning points. The side choice is the player's, so the app tracks who serves and leaves the box to you.
PARS vs traditional hand-in / hand-out
Older English scoring was hand-in / hand-out: only the server could score, a game went to 9, and losing a rally on serve was a hand-out with no point. PARS replaced it for faster, more predictable matches and is standard on the PSA tour today. This board uses PARS to 11.
